Open LNT Kitchen Art Camp

The Open Kitchen is a collective art installation. It is an experiment in gifting in its most traditional form—food. People can donate raw materials, cooks gift their time to transform these into delicious dishes, and the dishes are distributed openly to all.

We will sabotage the food consumption into a process of joyful gifting. Making food a collective pleasure impacts on reducing the food waste and the energy usage. We not only eat together, we nurture together body and mind. There is always a way to expand the boundaries and the forms of conviviality.

The Open Kitchen will be running while supplies last and people offer time to cook.

Open Kitchen Principles
  • Practicing radical food gifting.
  • Food is a foundation of relationships.
  • Food is sacred, wasting food is the worst karma.
  • Leave no trace means more than cleaning up. It’s about consuming less.

Things to avoid

We are not able to guarantee meals to everybody all the time –
so the self-reliance principle is still very valid and you have to take care of your survival (and therefore your own food). The more you participate the more food can be gifted.

The Open Kitchen is an art installation for gifting is not a self-use facility. People participating collaborate to gift food – whatever you bring (food, time, smiles, knives) will be used for collective distribution and are meant to be shared on public tables.

This is not a leftover dumping station! We won’t collect the food you don’t want, nor your trash. We only accept donations of fresh produce.

Please avoid canned/packaged foods! If you bring foods with lots of packages/cans, you will take the trash back with you.
Please avoid meat and other quickly perishable items!

Our view on Dragon Burn principles

We cherish all the principles of Dragon Burn and the art installation in particular wants to offer the chance for spontaneous practices of:
gifting (food has no price but a very high value), decommodification (thinking about the ingredients we use/bring and where they come from), communal effort (the more we contribute and share the more pleasure we have), civic responsibility (we respect the space that we are using and we contribute to leave a good karma to it), leave no trace (before, during, and after the experience), participation (everybody is invited to play), immediacy (the menu is not written, the menu is not bookable, the menu is Now).
